What can my active kids do?

Kids Cycling

With the decline in team games for children what interests can parents encourage to keep their active kids fit and healthy?

One of the easiest way to keep your kids agile is cycling. Cycling exercises many parts of the body. After the initial cost it is a cheap and fun way to keep your kids active. One word of caution do get the correct safety gear and make sure your offspring are fully trained in road safety.

In the United Kingdom children used to be taken swimming at school. The reduction in education budgets has however led to many schools discarding this kids activity. So now it is up to parents to organize trips to their local swimming baths. Don’t know where the local baths are? Look in your local directories or enquire at your neighborhood library.

There has been a massive rise in people jogging over the last few decades so can the kids do it? Well unless you can get your children to partake with their friends the solitude may put them off. A better activity may be walking. A walk for a mile whilst slower burns about the same calories as a jog for a mile. A walk doesn’t require any special equipment other than a good pair of shoes which your youngsters probably have already. It can also be done as a whole family activity.

Another sport which although comparatively recent is loved by children everywhere, is trampolining. Now whilst the large trampolines regularly seen on beaches can cost thousands of dollars there are now mini trampolines available for under $150. Once again check the safety standards of any equipment which is bought and very young children may need adult supervision.

Yes despite the lack of team game facilities your active kids can still get plenty of exercise and have fun at the same time.
